| Cooperative Education (COOP) is a nation-wide, work experience program that formally integrates students' academic and/or career interests with productive work experience in cooperating organizations. Co-op offers employers an opportunity to recruit talented, trainable prospective employees and gives students an opportunity to gain paid, career related experience. Through Co-op, the university and the business community become equal partners in the process of education and training. A written work agreement, which is developed and signed by the university and employer, defines the responsibilities of each party and sets forth goals and objectives for the work experience. A faculty counselor works closely with employers and students to ensure that the Co-op job provides positive learning experiences and that students fulfill their employers expectations. This program integrates the student's academic learning with actual stuctured on-the-job experience. | ||
